Private detective activity as an element of the national security system

The purpose of the article is to analyse the legal status of private detective activity in Ukraine, to assess its role in ensuring national security, and to identify areas for improving the legal and regulatory framework in this area. The article also aims at revealing the problematic issues arising in the course of providing private detective services and developing recommendations for effective legal regulation of the activities of detective agencies.
The paper examines private detective activity as an important element of the national security system of Ukraine. The historical aspects of the development of private detective activity in the USA, Great Britain and other countries, as well as its current role in ensuring national security are considered. The main areas of activity of private detectives are defined, in particular, combating crime, ensuring economic and information security, and protecting personal rights and freedoms of citizens.
Particular attention is paid to the cooperation of private detectives with state authorities, their contribution to the fight against corruption, fraud and industrial espionage. The author analyses the role of the private sector in strengthening economic security by detecting financial fraud, auditing companies and protecting commercial information.
The article also considers the regulatory framework of private detective activity in Ukraine, including the Law of Ukraine ‘On Detective (Investigative) Activity’, and its importance in the context of modern challenges. The author emphasises the significance of integration of the private detective sector with state structures and introduction of innovative approaches to ensure sustainable development of society.
The results of the study underline the importance of private detective activity as an integral part of the national security system, which contributes to effective counteraction to threats in various fields.
