The integration of Central and Eastern European countries into NATO structures is an important aspect of national security, including both military and political cooperation. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the process of integration of Central and Eastern European countries into NATO and its impact on the national security of these countries. The main focus is on the study of key stages of integration, problems of adaptation of national defense structures to NATO standards, as well as economic and political aspects of this integration. It is determined how NATO membership has become an important factor in the stability and development of national security systems in these countries.
To achieve this goal, the methods of comparative analysis, document analysis, and data-driven research on integration processes and their results in Central and Eastern Europe were used. The strategic, military and economic changes associated with the process of joining NATO were assessed.
The results of the study include the identification of problems arising at the stage of adaptation to NATO standards, such as inconsistencies in the management of defense structures, insufficient integration into defense production cooperation, and financial difficulties in modernizing military equipment and infrastructure. The study also found a positive impact on political stability and democratic processes in these countries. Given global security changes, the countries of Central and Eastern Europe should continue to cooperate with NATO, in particular in the context of combating new types of threats, such as cybersecurity and hybrid warfare.
The conclusions of the paper are that the process of integration into NATO contributes to a significant strengthening of the national security of Central and Eastern European countries, but further optimization of integration processes, especially in the military and economic spheres, is necessary to achieve full effectiveness. Ukraine, based on the experience of Central and Eastern European countries, has the opportunity not only to strengthen its defense capabilities, but also to become part of a powerful security system that ensures peace and prosperity in Europe.
