Sociology of political movements and parties: analysis of the structure and dynamics of political organizations

Abstract

Parties are key actors in socio-political life that shape the course of the state through participation in elections, campaigning, and the exercise of power. The purpose of this article is to study the structure and dynamics of political parties and movements, as well as to analyze their role in the political processes of modern society. The article focuses on the evolution of political parties, their social ideologies, functions, as well as the influence of new social movements on political processes. Methods.To achieve the goal, historical and systemic analysis were used, as well as a comparison of modern theoretical approaches to understanding the nature of political parties. Results. It is shown that political parties have a complex internal structure, which consists of an ideological, organizational and personnel base. They function as tools for aggregating and articulating the interests of various social groups, creating political programs and shaping public opinion. At the same time, despite the significant role of parties in political life, their influence is gradually decreasing due to new social movements and the media. In addition, the emergence of fresh associations based on modern beliefs and public demands demonstrates the increased ability of political entities to adapt to transformations in the social environment. Conclusions. The conclusions emphasize the key role of political parties in the functioning of modern political systems, while emphasizing the need for their further transformation and improvement, in particular by clearly enshrining the principles of their organization and activity in Ukrainian legislation. The need to reform existing political structures to increase their efficiency, democracy, and transparency is also important. “New wave” parties, emerging under the influence of social movements, have the potential to strengthen democratic institutions in countries with a developed political system.
