The article examines the subjects of political consolidation and political factors that influence the formation and consolidation of civic identity in democratic states. The role of the state, political parties, public organizations, electoral processes, church and religious organizations, mass media, as well as foreign policy factors in strengthening the unity of citizens is analyzed. Special attention is paid to the importance of political culture, democratic institutions, civic education, volunteer, youth and public movements as basic conditions for the formation of a stable identity of citizens. The article carries out a comparative analysis of the practices of various democratic countries, in particular Germany, France and the United States of America, which allows us to identify effective mechanisms for the integration of society. A comparative analysis of the experience of democratic countries on the path to the consolidation of society indicates that revolutionary events that threaten the very existence of the state serve as a stimulating factor for the formation of civic identity. The conclusion is drawn about the need to combine institutional reforms, the development of political culture, and active civic participation to ensure the sustainability of democratic systems.
