Abstract

The article examines political mediation as an effective tool for ensuring social consolidation and national unity in Ukraine under conditions of full-scale Russian aggression. The study aims to substantiate the essence of political mediation theoretically, analyze its role in reducing socio-political tensions, preventing internal conflicts, and strengthening trust between authorities and civil society in the context of protecting state sovereignty. The research methods include system-structural, comparative-political, institutional, and analytical approaches, which allowed for a comprehensive investigation of the relationship between the development of political mediation and processes of social consolidation under martial law conditions. The comparative method enabled the analysis of implementing mediation practices in European Union countries experiencing political or military crises, identifying relevant models for the Ukrainian context. The results of the study indicate that political mediation is not only a technology for peaceful conflict resolution but also an institutional mechanism for forming a political culture of mutual respect, dialogue, and shared responsibility. It has been established that the development of political mediation institutions contributes to the restoration of horizontal communications between central authorities, local communities, and civil society, reduces the risks of political polarization, strengthens the internal unity of the state, and helps timely respond to various types of conflicts, including socio-economic, family, labor, and public-legal disputes. The conclusions emphasize that the formation of a political mediation system in Ukraine should become a priority direction of state policy in the areas of democratization, security, and national unity. The institutional implementation of political mediation will promote a culture of consensus, increase trust in government bodies, enhance responsiveness to crises, and mitigate the impact of destructive political and informational factors caused by external aggression. Further improvement of legislative regulation in the field of mediation and support for public dialogue initiatives is key to sustainable social development, national resilience, and strengthening the political unity of the Ukrainian people.
