Abstract

This study aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the transformation of the geopolitical image of leading states in the context of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, and to identify key factors influencing shifts in state positions within the global system of international relations and the emergence of new centers of power. The research employs an integrated methodological approach combining comparative analysis of foreign policy strategies, assessment of security and defense policies, content analysis of official documents and media sources, and evaluation of the role of regional and global alliances in shaping international reputations. The study demonstrates that the war in Ukraine has acted as a powerful catalyst for the consolidation of democratic states, strengthening the role of the United States and the United Kingdom as primary guarantors of security and stability, thereby enhancing their credibility among allies and facilitating the formation of coalitions to counter authoritarian threats. At the same time, Russia has suffered significant reputational, political, and economic losses, which have limited its influence on the international stage and deepened its global isolation. The analysis of responses from Asian states, including China, Japan, South Korea, India, and other regional actors, indicates that they adjust their foreign policy and security strategies in differentiated ways, creating new frameworks for interaction within the global security and economic system. The results of the study indicate that the geopolitical image of states is shaped not only by economic and military capabilities but also by adherence to international norms, commitment to democratic values, and the formation of strategic partnerships. The findings can be used to forecast global system transformations, evaluate the effectiveness of diplomatic and economic instruments of influence, and support strategic planning for foreign policy, international security, and regional stability.
