Abstract

The purpose of this article is to study the features of Russian propaganda with its organization and implementation within the framework of the modern information war of Russian Federation against Ukraine. To achieve the effective goal, methods of analysis, synthesis, induction, and deduction were used. Using these methods, the main narratives of Russian propaganda were highlighted, which is leading element in this socio-political phenomenon; key mechanisms and channels of its implementation, that Russian government uses for control and manipulation on its territory and abroad, were indicated. The analysis allowed to classify key mechanisms of propaganda with narratives used by Russian authorities, as well as to identify leading directions of effective counteraction for spreading of the latest processes. To control the information space and counteract total spread of propaganda materials, measures were proposed that allow recognizing and resisting manipulative influences from Russian propagandists. As prevention and counteraction to manipulative effects of Russian propaganda, it is proposed to develop and implement educational programs aimed for teaching citizens to think critically and to analyze sources of information, which can reduce the impact of propaganda significantly. The large number of scientific works in the outlined field indicate the study and analysis of content, nature and methods of propaganda influence on citizens by the leadership of Russian Federation, however, the specifics of such influence on various socio-demographic groups of the population require further research, since an in-depth study of this issue will allow for effective cooperation at state policy level regarding the hygiene of information consumption by citizens of political and other news in modern conditions of the functioning in Ukrainian society. It will allow to study of communicative process, which is realized through media and social networks, and in accordance it will help to establish of relations with public organizations for implementation of state and public initiatives in the field of information security in the fight against enemy’s propaganda.
